The novel begins with David Balfour’s father passing away, leaving David to seek out his inheritance at the house of his uncle Ebenezer. Together, they face numerous adventures, including storms at sea, escapes across land, and political intrigue. Through these experiences, David matures, learning bravery and cunning, and ultimately uncovers his uncle’s plot, reclaiming his rightful inheritance.
